About

Aaron's is the story of the 'Tortoise and the Hare'. Admittedly, Aaron is the hare.

Starting off with his band, Tribute, when Aaron was just 14, by age 16, he had received both commercial and college radio play, with a large number of in-person and radio performances under his belt.

By age 19, a 3rd album had been released, and Aaron first struck out as a solo artist. This was short-lived, as he would meet brothers Dan and Mark DeJoy to form Seattle band, Little Hand of the City.

Little Hand of the City worked up 18 songs, 6 of which ended up on a [as of the present, 2022] unreleased EP. The band then split up over creative differences.

The year was 2005. Aaron's life had been about music, and he was suddenly feeling without a gig. He went into an undiagnosed nervous breakdown. The salve for this breakdown would be found in the words of Eckhardt Tolle's book, "The Power of Now".

Also admittedly, many of the lyrics of Aaron's first solo release, "Sympathy for the Wolf", were heavily influenced by the concepts found in "The Power of Now".

Aaron felt like he was barely scratching by, mentally, and thus was incredibly grateful at the results of returning to the studio and producing music that he felt was good.

"Sympathy for the Wolf" received some reviews and some play on Seattle's KEXP. Aaron was asked to play on KEXP's local show, and returned to the radio for the first time since Little Hand of the City.

The breakdown would creep back up over time, and push Aaron to the decision to find a brand new landscape in the city he had dreamed of living in: New York. In 2007, Aaron packed his 1985 Honda Civic full of limited belonging - clothing and music gear - and drove from Seattle to New York.

Aaron had 'finished' a second solo release before he left Seattle, but trying to truly tie the ribbon on the album proved difficult remotely. He ultimately decided to visit his sister's family in Europe, and on returning to New York, make the drive back to Seattle.

In 2009, Aaron released his second solo album, "Everything the Hard Way". He declared that this would be the 2nd album in a trilogy of albums fleshing out the original concept. As for the 3rd album, he had begun to write it in New York.

Besides releasing "Everything the Hard Way", in 2009, Aaron had already finished writing and recording a 3rd album for the trilogy.

2009 was a productive year. Not mentioned so far is an EP that was written and recorded in 2009, and is likewise unreleased; "Drifting Out to Sea". This is to come in the near future.

It was also in 2009 that Aaron played a show in Spokane, WA, where he met a girl. Turning his attention to love for the first time in years, "Everything the Hard Way" didn't undergo the same level of promotion as its predecessor.

In Oct. of 2010, "Lost in the Light" was mastered and finalized. However, Aaron and his new partner found that they were pregnant.

In Dec. of 2010, Aaron and his partner released their first child, named after the singer who had revolutionized Aaron's singing style, Rufus Wainwright.

In a sense, the rest is history. Instead of albums, Aaron began releasing children, with two more to come after the family moved to Florida, in search of warmth and an affordable house to buy.

In 2020, Aaron started thinking heavily about the album that was sitting on the shelf for a decade. He began to re-visit it, but due to now working in the corporate world, and raising a family, Aaron had little free time to dedicate towards music.

In 2022, Aaron was finally determined to get back to releasing albums. Come hell or highwater, "Lost in the Light" would finally see the light of day.

Besides these ancient recordings that are finally to be released, Aaron has a new album to record. However, he wants no more distractions until "Lost in the Light" is released!

Thank you for reading and most especially for listening.
